I don't remember the exact year this photo was taken...2004? But it was just moments before my friend Neil Boyle, BSWCA, left the California Art Institute for the last time. Soon after he and his wife Betty (beside him in the photo above) moved to Canada, where sadly he died in 2006. Neil was a great and prolific artist with a wonderful sense of humor ("I paint bars and whores," he said, "because you're supposed to paint what you know."). He had many things to teach us all, and we still miss him.
